There are different types of baby bouncer, probably more common than a chair bouncer is a door bouncer. This type basically hangs from a door and the baby is strapped into it in an upright position, a bit like a bungee jump. It is, therefore only suitable for a baby old enough to hold the weight of its head up by itself.

For the younger baby it is better to use something that allows the child to lie flat while it is happily bouncing. The chair baby bouncer sits on the floor and has a flexible base which allows the flexibility to allow the bounce.

One of the more basic models is the Baby Bjorn starter version which is just the seat with no frills whatsoever. Then you can get models which are operated by battery which are more expensive or manually which are less expensive.

If you like to be able to take it around with you, you should look at one which can be folded easily to put in the boot of a car or taken on public transport.

Probably the best name brand that manufacture them is Fisher Price. For a baby girl, their Think Pink Baby Bouncer is an excellent product. All the models from Fisher Price have little toys and noise makers attached which make it a play area as well as a simple baby rocker.

Other brands that are in this market tend to be the same ones that make prams, pushchairs, strollers and buggies. Expect to see reliable names like O’Baby, Graco and Cosatto when you are out looking for your baby bouncer chair.
